The mission of Ordre professionnel de la physiotherapy du Québec (OPPQ) is to protect the public, ensure physiotherapists and physiotherapy technologists provide quality services, and support the development of both professions.
To achieve this mission, OPPQ:
- Promotes the importance of physiotherapy to diverse audiences
- Promotes the advancement of physiotherapy
- Takes a position on legislative and regulatory changes
- Encourages members to develop and update their skills
- Drafts and updates regulations governing the professional practice of members
- Issues physiotherapist and physiotherapy technologist licenses
- Issues certifications allowing them to perform certain activities provided in their field of practice
- Monitors and assesses members’ practices
- Receives and processes public reports and lodges complaints when necessary
- Intervenes in cases involving illegal practice and unauthorized use of a title
