{"id":26281,"date":"2022-02-24T09:33:14","date_gmt":"2022-02-24T14:33:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oppq.qc.ca\/?page_id=26281"},"modified":"2022-04-13T11:39:42","modified_gmt":"2022-04-13T15:39:42","slug":"knowledge-of-french","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/oppq.qc.ca\/en\/become-a-member\/knowledge-of-french\/","title":{"rendered":"Knowledge of French"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>By law, professionals practicing in Qu\u00e9bec must be proficient enough in French to practice their profession, that is, they must be able to speak, write, and work in French.<\/h2>\n<p>Professionals from outside Qu\u00e9bec who are not proficient in French when they apply for admission can obtain a <strong>temporary license for a limited time<\/strong> while they learn the language.<\/p>\n<h3>Appropriate knowledge of French<\/h3>\n<p>Under the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/fr\/document\/lc\/C-11?langCont=en#se:35\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charter of the French Language<\/a><\/em>, your knowledge of French is considered sufficient if you meet one of the following conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You completed at least three years of full-time secondary or postsecondary education in French<\/li>\n<li>You passed the French as a first language exam for Secondary Levels\u00a04 or\u00a05 in Qu\u00e9bec<\/li>\n<li>You earned a high school diploma in Qu\u00e9bec in\u00a01985\u201386 or a later school year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you do not meet one of these conditions, you must obtain a <strong>French language proficiency certificate from OQLF<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By law, professionals practicing in Qu\u00e9bec must be proficient enough in French to practice their profession, that is, they must be able to speak, write, and work in French.
